Aegis Rider is a Swiss technology company that builds the Aegis Rider Vision — a smart motorcycle helmet with augmented reality capabilities. The helmet combines built-in cameras, Bluetooth audio, and an optional AR Optics display module that projects navigation, speed, and ride data directly into the rider's field of view using spatial anchoring technology.
The Aegis Rider Vision uses spatial anchoring — a 6-DOF tracking system that anchors the AR display to the motorcycle rather than the rider's head. When you turn to check a mirror, the HUD naturally leaves your view, so it never blocks real-world hazards. Content like speed, navigation, and alerts stays fixed over the cockpit, appearing only when you look forward. The system uses a dedicated tracking camera and your smartphone's position on the handlebars as a spatial reference.
You need the Aegis Rider Vision helmet and the free AR Vision Companion app on your smartphone (iOS 16+ or Android 13+). The helmet connects to your phone via Bluetooth 5.2 for calls, media, and notifications. For the AR Optics display, you also need a rigid smartphone handlebar mount (included in the helmet box) and a per-motorcycle vehicle calibration through the app.
No. All helmet and AR features are included with your purchase — there is no subscription model. The AR Vision Companion app is free and includes one vehicle calibration slot. Additional motorcycle calibration slots can be purchased in-app for CHF 9.99 each.
The helmet has three cameras: a front-facing 1080p action camera (30 fps, 135° FOV) for recording your rides, a rear camera (hardware installed, activation planned for a future update), and a tracking camera (used exclusively for spatial anchoring — not user-accessible). Recorded footage is stored on 128 GB of onboard storage, enough for approximately 20–24 hours of video.
The built-in 7,000 mAh battery provides approximately 7 hours of operation with the AR display active. A full charge via USB-C takes about 2 hours.
Your data stays under your control. Ride recordings are stored locally on the helmet's 128 GB storage and transferred to your smartphone via a temporary WiFi connection only when you choose. The Bluetooth pairing uses 6-digit passkey authentication, firmware updates are always user-triggered (never automatic).
Download the AR Vision Companion app (search "Aegis Rider" in the App Store or Google Play), create an account, and pair your helmet via Bluetooth. The app will guide you through initial setup. If you have AR Optics, you'll also complete a vehicle calibration for each motorcycle.
